Hey,

Have you ever stopped to think about what your younger self would think if they ever met present day you?

I rarely do it, but I think it’s something I should do more often. It's so easy to get stuck in your head, and feel like your not progressing or living the life you wanted to lead. But younger you will look up at you and think "Wow, a real adult who gets to do so much of the things I don’t get to do” (Like watch tv whenever they like haha).

Younger me having no idea what living with intention means

I don’t remember what I wanted to do when I grew up, but I do remember thinking about the level of freedom adults have. And yeah, I have new dreams and goals on how I want my life to go (based on the information I have acquired whilst growing up), but when I think and feel like I am failing or lagging behind, I am forgetting that I have moved the goal post, because I previously achieved the other goals.

I am living the younger Rue’s dream. I get to make my own decisions (within the limitations of general adulting). I get to try out new things on my own terms, and live in a way that makes me enjoy life. I don’t have moments of freaking out on how small and meaningless my life is in the bigger picture. Which means, I choose to live my life on terms that make it feel meaningful to me. I feel like I am making my own autonomous choices each day (no idea if we truly are, but at least I feel like I am). And most of all, I am able to find pockets of joy in the everyday life, and with intention.

I think adulting feels like living life with intention. Since I am making my decisions, I have the ability to control the outcome of my emotions and viewpoints, through my intent. But since younger me (less than 11 years old) wouldn’t know what intention means, I would describe it as “I think a bit more about how my day can go, and I go find ways to make the day feel like the ‘best day ever'"

Weekly reflection:

“I’m not really live laugh loving life at the moment, but that sandwich looks good”

This was an interestingly optimistic post from me. Thanks for reading and I hope you have a great weekend.
