Hey,

How are you doing?

I am not surprised with how fast Feb went, but to think we are only 2.5 months in, and so many things have been happening since Jan 1st, it feels at least a few months have gone by. Sometimes I just want to sit and stare at a wall for, I don’t know, a couple of hours, and just zone out. Process everything. Reground myself.

It just feels like it’s going fast and without that processing time, it’s like the world is moving on around me, and I am just watching it.

Let a girl just catch her breath, please🙏🏾

Steps to reground yourself when you feel overwhelmed

  • Immerse yourself - Do something that takes you away from reality, and throws you into an alternative space. Reading a fictional book or watching a comfort move/tv show

  • Surround yourself - We all have some friends who just make us feel calm and at peace (it’s not all of our friends, but it’s some of them) - GO SPEND TIME WITH THEM. Even if it’s just a 2 hour phone call or a coffee.

  • Remove yourself - hear me out, but find a medium to separate yourself from feeling overwhelmed whether it’s journaling, voice notes, rage rooms, hot baths - it’s something that allows your body and brain to release the tension and lets you walk away completely. Sometimes I find talking to myself is just as good, rationalising that the things I am overwhelmed by, are out of my control.

Mental wellbeing is incredibly important as an adult, especially as it’s normalised to live in more solitude than community. Just remember, if things feel and seem darker than usual, then it means something isn’t right.

Don’t do what I did, and just tell yourself it’s just your natural pessimism/realism, it’s most likely a form of exhaustion to the life you’re currently leading, and you just need to pause and reground yourself.

Stay safe and I hope you have a great weekend.
