Sometimes people say, do and act in certain ways to evoke a response from you. They want to see that they got under your skin, into your head, or provoked you.
Now I don’t know about you, but I don’t like it when people try to make me react, without my own authority. I think of it as a form of manipulation. So, what I do is stay quiet and mind my business.
This does not mean I am sat ignoring injustices and not being an active bystander. In my view, the difference between responding to someone and responding as an active bystander, is that one is a reaction to an external something, whereas the other is a reaction to an internal something.
With that distinction you might argue that there was an internal drive for you to tell me I am wrong, which is fair. But if I hadn’t sent this newsletter, then there was no external something to evoke that response from you, right? Also do you think you would have read this far, if I hadn’t used the wording that I had? You probably clicked to read this, because the title kind of sounds like I am going to say “bury your head in sand about the ongoing issues on the planet.” And for a lot of people, that stance is an action towards accepting the issues on the planet, right?

Giphy - those were some confusing questions earlier
Adulting is realising there is some nuance present, even in topics that seem so black and white.
Case Study
For instance, if someone was going through some really terrible stuff mentally, physically and familially. If they kept their distance from the state of the world right now, would you really blame them? They’re clearly overwhelmed with their personal life, and yes what is going on outside of their world (on the planet we actually live on) is even more chaotic. What makes you think that they have the same resilience that you do? (because I am not assuming they are the only person on the planet dealing with stuff right now).
It’s a lot harder in this digital age, to ‘bury your head in the sand’. Everything is so accessible on a device that sits in your pocket, and fits in your hand. So, it’s not harsh to assume that they are aware of some of the chaos, but they are not following as avidly as someone else might. It doesn’t necessarily mean they agree with what’s going on, they are focussing on their own planet, which doesn’t hold all 8 billion of us on it. And my hot take is, that’s ok.
At the end of the day we are all going to meet our end, and when it comes we will want to go knowing we placed our energy in things we genuinely care about. And with 8 billion people, there is a good amount of variation in what everyone could possible care about.
TL;DR my hot take
So, sometimes staying quiet is better. And don’t forget, that is just my opinion. You have read this far, and had an insight in how I think (a little). You don’t need to agree, and feel free to reply if it’s not a reaction to the email. I find that’s the best way to shape and mould my life as I go - getting perspectives that I wouldn’t naturally gain from my own experience.
Weekly reflection:
It sometimes feels like each day I am unravelling the propaganda fed to me growing up, but I also think it’s just the truth that no one decided to correct in my child brain. Either way, I don’t appreciate the lies.
Hope that wasn’t a mood killer, and I hope you have a good day. 😁

Finally, Skincare That Boosts NAD+ At the Source
For decades, skincare has focused on aesthetic results. But we started by asking a different question: what if instead of trying to preserve our skin's youth, we prioritized optimizing our skin's function? That's how Aramore’s NAD+ skincare was born.
Developed by Harvard & MIT scientists, Aramore is a skincare system based on skin’s performance, not just its appearance. NAD+ production slows down significantly as we age, and this causes all the telltale science of aging.
Aramore is the only skincare formulated to help skin produce NAD+ like much younger skin would. The result? Skin that’s stronger, firmer, and more resilient, that not only looks better, but stays healthier over time.
